How to write a WhatsApp follow-up without inventing urgency
YourPrompt.in, Library · October 2026
A writing pattern for a shop that already has the price, the product, and the customer's name. It does not report a sales result.
A good WhatsApp follow-up helps a customer continue a conversation they already started. Begin with the product they asked about and one useful next step. A discount, deadline or stock claim belongs in the message only when your business has confirmed it. The example below is fictional and is not a sales result.
Collect the inputs first: the customer's preferred name, the item, current price, actual availability, delivery or collection terms, and permission to follow up. Use a redacted record when working in an external AI tool. You can write a useful draft without uploading a phone number or a complete chat history.
Try this prompt: “Draft one polite WhatsApp follow-up under 50 words. Customer: [NAME]. Product: [PRODUCT]. Confirmed price: [PRICE]. Confirmed terms: [TERMS]. Approved next step: [NEXT_STEP]. Use only these facts. Ask a question if a required detail is missing. Do not invent scarcity, discounts, customer interest or a deadline. Return the message and a fact-check list.”
For a fictional textile shop, the supplied facts could be a blue cotton kurta at INR 900, collection after 4 pm, and an invitation to ask about sizing. A reasonable draft is: “Hi Kavya, the blue cotton kurta you asked about is INR 900. Collection is available after 4 pm. Would you like the size measurements?” This wording does not imply a reservation or an expiring offer.
Before sending, compare the draft with the source record. Check the price, product, time and customer name. Remove any sentence you cannot support. Have a fluent speaker review regional-language wording. Send only through your approved customer-contact process, and honour requests to stop messages.
Measure the workflow before buying more tools. Record eligible conversations, messages actually sent, replies and useful next steps over a defined period. Keep that operational record in your own approved system. A reply does not prove a sale, and a small trial does not establish a reliable uplift. Use the customer-message resources below to prepare your own draft, or request help defining a reviewed follow-up process.
