How to use agent skills

Before you start

Have a task and sample inputs ready. Check the resource’s compatible tools, access requirements, and license. Any AI provider or automation platform may charge separately.

Step by step

1. Check the listing for a supported agent, license, dependencies, and whether it contains a valid SKILL.md package or instruction text.
2. For a packaged skill, download the complete source and retain its reference files and scripts. Read the author’s setup instructions.
3. Install the folder in the location documented by your agent. Text-only resources should be pasted into a conversation instead.
4. Invoke the skill on a small task, review requested permissions, and inspect the resulting output.

If something does not work

If the skill is not recognised, check the folder name, SKILL.md formatting, companion files, and your agent’s supported installation location. Downloading a file does not install dependencies.
